Biography - Andy Thompson
Andy’s professional career spanned two divergent industries: the fire and casualty insurance industry and the banking industry. After serving in the U. S. Army Transportation Corps, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, Andy was honorably discharged with a rank of Captain. He began his business career at International Service Insurance Company, a fire and casualty insurance company serving the Texas market and military personnel worldwide, where he was primarily involved in the development of data processing systems and finance and accounting.
In 1984, Andy became involved with Central Bank & Trust and North Fort Worth State Bank, two Tarrant County based institutions, ultimately merging the two to form Central Bancorporation, Inc. and serving as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. After the sale of that company, Andy formed Thompson & Murff, LLC, a private wealth management company.
Andy has always been intimately involved with numerous non-profit service entities primarily focused on children services and healthcare. He currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of Texas Health Resources, a multi-non-profit hospital management company in North Texas; Chairman of the Harris Methodist Health Foundation; Vice President and board member of the Lena Pope Home Foundation; President and board member of the Cleaves and Mae Rhea Foundation and Vice Chair of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
Prior community interests were board service with other numerous entities; Downtown Fort Worth, Inc; Family Services, Inc.; the James L. West Presbyterian Special Care Center; Harris Methodist Health System; Harris Methodist Hospital, Fort Worth; Lena Pope Home; and the Fort Worth Club.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Andy attended high school at New Mexico Military Institute and the University of Texas at Austin graduating with a BBA degree in Accounting. He and his wife, Nancy, live in Fort Worth and have two wonderful sons & daughters-in-laws and four beautiful grandchildren. |
